I hope you are enjoying this beautiful Memorial Day weather. I have received several questions related to graduation rehearsal, exercises, and scholarship night so I will try to address them here. I have also sent the same message to all parents of seniors via email.
Banquet: Tuesday, May 28 @ 6:00 PM at the HS cafeteria. This is a student only event for Seniors who are graduating. The banquet will be followed by a hypnotist. The night should conclude at about 10 PM.
Graduation Rehearsal: Rehearsal will be held at the Shriner’s at 10 AM on Friday, May 31st. All students eligible to participate in the ceremony must be in attendance. Students who are not at the rehearsal will not be qualified to walk in the ceremony.
BBQ: This event will immediately follow the rehearsal on Friday. It will take place at the HS baseball field pending good weather. We do not have an indoor venue so it will be cancelled if the weather is bad. This event is for seniors who have qualified to graduate. There is no charge. Caps and Gowns will be sold at the BBQ. This is the only time students will be able to get a cap and gown so it is imperative that seniors attend and bring their sign out sheet and $20.00 to pay for the cap and gown. Yearbooks may also be distributed at this event. In the event of cancellation due to weather, we will make arrangements for student to get their caps and gowns and yearbooks at the HS.
Scholarship Night: This event will take place on Friday, May 31st at 6:30 PM at the Middle School cafeteria. This is an invitation only event. Most invites have been sent, but a few may come out as we receive them during the week.
Graduation: Will be held at the Shriner’s (99 Fordham Street) on Sunday June 2nd. Seniors will need to arrive no later than 12:30 PM, dressed appropriately. This is a formal event for students so no shorts, t-shirts, sneakers, flip flops, etc. Students who are inappropriately dressed will be sent home to change. The doors will open to the general public at 1:00 PM and seating will be limited to no more than 8 people per graduate. Seating will be tight so please stay at or under the limit. The ceremony will begin at 2:00 PM.
This is a special time of the year for all of us. I look forward to a wonderful end of the year for the seniors and their families!
The Senior Prom will be held tonight at the Danversport Yacht Club in Danvers, MA. The WHS PAC will be hosting a Promenade for all prom goers at the Shriner’s Auditorium, 99 Fordham Road in Wilmington Any students attending the promenade should plan to be at the Shriners by 4:30 PM.
We plan to have a great time tonight. Please take the opportunity to talk with your kids and their friends about making good decisions. The prom will begin at 6:30 PM and will end at 11:00 PM.
Last night we celebrated the accomplishments of 96 of Wilmington High School Underclassmen. Award categories included: Academic Achievement, Academic Excellence and Special Awards. The Class of 2016 won the Principal’s Cup!
